The natural landscapes of this property and the surrounding canyon is
one of it’s greatest amenities. As you are coming down the San Juan Skyway from the west you enter this majestic canyon with two towering buttes that will overcome you. As you continue down the canyon towards them, they rise up to totally enchant you. This property is located at the optimum vantage point to enjoy the pure spender of their majestic beauty.
The landscape of this property was developed to conform with the natural surroundings it is in. Native rock and boulders have been brought in from the canyons adjacent to this property. There are mature evergreens, aspens and other trees native to this area. There are many planters, burms and outcroppings of junipers, perennials and wild flowers. We think you will agree, this property is a treasure.
There is an authentic 40’ antique windmill that is visible throughout
the property as well as by people who pass by on hwy 160. The
Deer Antler Arch has over 3600 shed antlers that has been a monument
of Durango Colorado for many years. Both of these are great attractions
if a tourism type business is located here.
The main commercial building is of a log lodge type structure designed by Feeney & Assoc Architects. It is a beautiful show place with a huge natural rock fireplace, exposed bold truss system, extensive woodwork, a large showroom, multiple offices and workspaces, two restrooms and a walk-in vault.
The yard to the east of the commercial building is two level
with unique boulder inlays, red lava rock and river rock, aspens,
evergreens, an 8′ fountain and unique fence work. It leads to the Gazebo
which is a beautiful building. It would make a great area for gatherings,
weddings or whatever.
A long area of the front of the property is landscaped with boulders,
aspens, evergreens and flower gardens – it is very attractive
from the Highway. The extensive custom landscaping and beautiful view
of the Twin Buttes as well as other canyon walls make this property a little
piece of mountain living heaven.
The home is custom built with many unique features. There is a solid hand cut rock wall with a fireplace, an inlaid antique Winchester rifle and a arched doorway. The home has an open floor plan with views of the Twin Buttes from a sunroom type setting. It has large living spaces and all the features of a custom Colorado western home.
The landscapes surrounding the home are spectacular! From the north patio, there is an awesome rock hillside garden backed by thousands of acres of National Forest and not a neighbor in site.
In addition, there are petroglyphs on the canyon walls above this property from the times of ancient Indians.
